“Water hardness” is also known as hard water. Hard water contains high levels of the minerals calcium and magnesium. When water travels from its source to a residential home, these minerals are picked up and are carried in the water. The more minerals come in contact with the water, the harder the water. Water hardness levels vary across the United States. Check out our Water Hardness Scale blog post for more details.
