Dealing with hard water stains?

Hard water stains are a pain no matter what they appear on and can be costly to a homeowner.

It is possible to get rid of hard water stains, however, for long-term results, it is best to soften your water by installing a water softener system. A water softener turns hard water into soft water, helping to prevent hard water stains from developing.

For short-term results, we have compiled a short list of tips to help remove hard water stains:

  1. Vinegar water – mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle, apply liberally to the hard water stains, and let sit for 15 minutes. Afterwards, wipe the surface with a microfiber towel for best results.
  2. Baking Soda – this solution tends to work best on tile. Mix baking soda and water until a paste is formed. Apply to surface and let sit for a few minutes. Scrub off with a sponge/brush.
  3. Hydrogen Peroxide – apply it to the stained surface and let sit for 30 minutes. Brush off with a slightly wet sponge afterwards. For added power, mix in cream of tartar and baking powder.

Bathroom Clean In all applications, before cleaning a hard-water-stained surface, check the manufacturer's recommendation for best cleaning practices for that item.
